Trauma Counseling

It is easy to lose sight of life after experiencing a death or loss. Individuals may fall into despair and experience extreme negative emotions. This is why we provide trauma counseling. Our psychological minds rewire to change the way that we handle different situations in order to protect ourselves from past (or future) trauma.  Although you might not be able to remember your trauma, your brain does.

At Utah Bereavement, we believe that professional help is essential in your healing process. Being honest about your grief is the first step to an easier transition and will be extremely helpful for you as you begin the healing process. Our trauma therapy provides healing strategies to those who have experienced emotional trauma of any kind, including a grief-causing loss.

Some common symptoms of trauma include:

  • Flashbacks
  • Repressed memories
  • Loss of trust
  • Anxiety and/or depression
  • Fear and/or excessive worry
  • Emotional detachment
  • Low self-esteem
  • Self-destructive behavior

We understand that it can be difficult or even scary to relive the pain of trauma. Our caring professionals provide a safe, comfortable environment where individuals can remember and resolve their traumatic experiences, so that they no longer affect everyday living. During treatment, we will work together to reduce worry, overcome fear, face reality, and reclaim personal power.

Beginning counseling is your first step to a happier, healthier life!

PTSD Counseling

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can take on many different forms and can cause an extreme amount of suffering to the coping individual. It tends to arise in individuals who have experienced an extremely traumatic or life-threatening incident. While anxiety increases, it can become difficult to process the traumatic experiences. This can cause an individual to repress past events and memories, which can prevent them from healing properly.

Some of the more common causes of PTSD are:

  • Death
  • Sexual, emotional, and physical abuse
  • War
  • Childhood Trauma

These causes can trigger emotional and psychological symptoms such as:

  • Extreme anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Flash backs
  • Nightmares
  • Eating disorders
  • Memory loss
  • And more…

Not all surviving individuals will develop PTSD, but we highly recommend talking to someone before any negative feelings become physical responses.

At Utah Bereavement, we are here to support individuals in their healing process. Our experienced professionals have many treatment options and provide empower individuals in gaining back their lives.
